health, he retired from the Army after Hitler relieved him of his duties
and personally assumed responsibilities as Commander-in-Chief of the Army.
Generalfeldmarschall von Brauchitsch was not employed again during World
War II.
20 December 1941: Leader Reserve – at the disposal
of the Führer, Adolf Hitler.
8 May 1945-18 October 1948: Prisoner of war in British
captivity
2nd September 1946 transferred to Island Farm Special Camp 11 from
LDC (London District Cage)
30th April 48 Transferred to Camp 99, and then to Camp 231
18 October 1948: Died in a British military hospital
at Hamburg.
